Green Enterprise Training (GET)
Practical skills in climate resilience and financial literacy.
Green Enterprise Training will enable you to reduce energy costs, protect your income from the effects of climate change, and manage your finances with confidence. It is designed for small business owners, self help groups, and local interest groups across Kenya. No prior training or formal education is required.
What you learn
Week One: Greener Energy & Climate Response
You will learn how to reduce energy costs by shifting from expensive, polluting fuels like diesel, petrol, kerosene, and charcoal to cleaner, more affordable alternatives. These include solar systems, improved cookstoves, biogas, and electric mobility options available in Kenya today. You will also learn how to protect your business or group from climate shocks such as floods, heatwaves, and water shortages.
Week Two: Financial Literacy & Credit Readiness
You will learn the basics of bookkeeping, how to read and understand loan terms, and how to manage borrowed money effectively. This includes tracking income and expenses, separating business from personal funds, and planning for repayment. You will leave with a simple financial record system you can use immediately.
How it works
Training is delivered live & recorded online sessions held in the evenings and on weekends to accommodate busy schedules. All sessions are recorded in case you miss one. You will also join a learning group for daily summaries, assignments, and direct access to your trainer.
The curriculum is tailored to your specific sector. Farmers learn about solar irrigation. Salons learn about waste segregation and solar backup. Chamas learn about group accounting and Pay As You Go models.
What you receive
Upon completion, you receive a verifiable certificate. The certificate includes your name, training dates, modules covered, and a unique verification number. It is accepted by county governments, employers, and other programs as proof of training.
Graduates may also access green loans at 8–11% annual interest. The loan is optional. You may apply immediately after training or within twelve months of receiving your certificate.

Training materials are provided in Kiswahili and English.
