Grantees
Repayment performance
Of the grants listed below under our previous mental health program, 67 percent have been successfully disbursed as of the date of publication (31/05/2026). Disbursement data is tracked monthly and updated in our public transparency dashboard. We consider this a strong performance given the transitional nature of these grants.
Donor policy shift and program transition
Recent changes in our international donors' funding priorities have prompted a strategic shift in our organisation. Under their guidance and with their continued support, we have moved our focus from mental health to climate resilience, greener energy, and financing for local groups. This shift aligns with global climate financing frameworks and responds directly to the needs expressed by the communities we serve.
Segregation of grants under the previous program
Grants allocated under our previous mental health program have been fully segregated from our current climate and energy portfolio. These legacy grants are managed separately in our accounting system, with clear labels and distinct reporting lines. No funds from our current climate programs have been redirected to cover past mental health commitments, and no mental health grants have been absorbed into our new portfolio.
Third party disbursement for transparency
To ensure full transparency and avoid any conflict of interest, all grants under the previous mental health program are disbursed through independent third party organisations. These partners handle funds transfer, recipient verification, and basic monitoring. Our role is limited to beneficiary identification and referral. This structure guarantees that no funds pass through our accounts without independent oversight.
Paperless processing and improved security
We have transitioned to a fully paperless grants management system. All applications, approvals, disbursement records, and repayment schedules are captured and stored digitally. The system includes:
- Encrypted digital signatures for all recipients
- Biometric or M-PESA based identity verification
- Automated audit trails for every transaction
- Encrypted cloud storage with role based access controls
These security features protect beneficiary data, prevent document tampering, and ensure that all information is recoverable in the event of local hardware failure or disaster. Recipients receive digital copies of all agreements via SMS or email. No paper records leave our office containing personally identifiable information.
Open access to records
We declare full openness in expenditure. Detailed receipts, beneficiary agreements, equipment invoices, and third party disbursement logs are available for review upon request. Contact our grants officer for access.
